Camp Commander in this time frame was Capt. Gavin, known for wearing tall boots and wide topped calvary style pants. Known as Bloomer Boy due to this wear by his men, who would sing a song by the same name that Started "Bloomer Boy, Bloomer Boy..." and was a rewording of a popular song, perhaps one that went "Sailor Boy, Sailor Boy, won't you be...". Anyone know this song? The men would sing it in trucks on way out gates to work. Another song would spell out Shovel and would be like S is for something or other, and was to the tune of Mother which spelled out that word. Anyone know these words?
