Liberty Ships
The Liberty ship was mass produced in the US in order to keep up with the heavy losses suffered in the Atlantic. That was the one that I always thought won the war. They were everywhere. No matter where you sailed, there seemed to be a Liberty there. Many of them were sunk by torpedo, bombs, guided bombs off Salerno, Italy, during the invasion. They were at D-Day, Okinawa, Iwo Gima, anywhere there was an invasion by the US.
