Hand Grenades
Hand Grenades in WW II had a spring loaded lever(Handle) held in place with a common cotter pin. A ring on the cotter pin facilitated pulling the cotter pin. The spring under the handle causes it to fly off striking a serrated roller on a Ronson CIGARETTE LIGHTER the spark lighted the fuse.. (Most of the time).
