B17 F Sunnie's Big Stoop
AC# 42-30452 (possibly, its blurry), World War II
Here is Sunnie's Big Stoop.....He's standing on far right.....the guy kneeling in the middle with the leather jacket is named Earl Campbell. For 42 years they thought each other was dead....then Earl bumped into a woman from our home town at a convention and said he knew a George Bragdon from there that was killed during the war. She said, well I know one still living there that was in the Army Air Corps...she gave him his number and that was 1983 and they have been visiting each other ever since. My father had thought he was dead because he'd heard the tail gunner of that plane had been killed....what he didn't know was that Earl had switched planes. Earl and George are also in the Photo of Jimmie Boy II. The Air Forces Serial Number on the plane seems to say, though its very blurry, 42-30452. The name under the Bombadier position seems to be HOPE, probably a token of affection for his girlfriend rather than a comment on his accuracy. The writing on the crew hatch is not clear.
