Biography of James V. Gruber
CCC Man, Unknown Company, Michigan
My father-in-law James V. Gruber who served in the MI CCC sometime between 1933 and 1938. While he was from Argyle, MI, he served at a CCC camp in the upper peninsula -- either Newberry or Munising areas. I have no dates, no company name and only a few stories that he shared with us. How I wish I had asked more about his service while he was alive!
We are at the CCC Museum at Higgins Lake for the day and found it to be a wonderful recognition of the work done by those young men. We had no idea how much they had done or the extent of their service.
