Biography of Sterling Nunn

CCC Man, Company 4703, Camp SCS-8, Council Grove, Kansas & Company 3770, Butte Camp, Yankee Hill, California & Company 3767, Jessieville, Arkansas

   My father was in the CCC's. He has a few pictures of him self and things they worked on. He did pick and shovel work. in company 4703 camp fremont----Council Grove Kansas. He joined when he was 16. the other boys in the pictures look really young. He was enlisted for a year. His Name is Sterling Nunn.

   Sterling Nunn left the Council Grove camp sometime prior to April 24, 1936, as he received a letter with that date from his friend John Julian who was the SCS Clerk at the Council Grove camp.. That letter, set forth below., is addressed to Mr. Nunn at Company 3770, Butte Camp, Yankee Hill, California. Mr. Nunn must have served at a third camp as well, Company 3767, Jessieville, Arkansas, as he has a canteen chit from there dated "Nov. 5". He also kept a scrap book, some of which is set forth below, which included canteen chits for all three camps, and the check from his company commander mentioned in the letter.
