Biography of Peter Race
CCC Man, New York
My grandfather, Peter Race, from Oxford and later Utica New York, served with CCC in the early to mid 1930s, but for only short periods when he was temporarily laid off from the railroad during the 1930's. He was one of the luckier one's in that he found work with the railroad during most of the depression years.
His son, my Uncle Lynn Race, also was in the CCCs.
Peter Race was an experienced railroad engineer and also a boiler tech. He remained in the Railroad Service from the 1930's until death in 1956 at the age of 54.
