Biography of Samuel R. Stock
CCC Man, Ludington, Michigan
My grandfather, Samuel R. Stock was a veteran CC at a few camps in Michigan with Ludington being the last. have all the info on gramps cc history. Gramps was a truck driver and crew chief at Ludington camp. There were really two camps in one with two different numbers. You had the young unemployed cc's and you had the veteran cc's.
Just months prior to Pearl Harbor he took a job with the C&O sailing with the carferrys. He remained with the carferrys into the 70's when he retired. Ludington has a long history with cross lake shipping and still runs one coal burner to this day.
