Biography of Lester Trausch

CCC Man, Unknown Company

I am one of the sons of Lester Trausch of Nebraska.

I know that my father worked in Porterville, California in the 1930’s, probably for the CCC. I would like to find out everything I can find out about his experience in Porterville. He died in an automobile accident in Nebraska in 1955. I was two years old and never knew him.

My father was born in August of 1909 in Roseland, Nebraska, His level of education was 8th grade. He was skilled in carpentry and agriculture. He left his father’s farm in Nebraska to work near Porterville, CA.

His social security card had a Porterville street address on it as I remember. The card is gone now.

After he worked at some Porterville camp as I would guess, he returned to Nebraska to be a farmer. He married our mother in 1941 and they had 5 children. I am the youngest one; born in 1952.

It is a curious thing about how we become inquisitive about the history of our parents. I don’t know why I am thinking about these things now as opposed to when I was 25 or 30 years old. The information may have been easier to obtain back then. I am hoping for the best here. I would appreciate any information that you may have about my father.

Any information about his company, camp or service would be appreciated.
