Biography of Donald Warren Hanson
After viewing "Saving Private Ryan" in the theatre, I realized that my uncle, Donald Warren Hanson, was there. He would never talk about his unit, his experiences, his wound, his hospitalization in France, any of his WWII experiences. He passed on, in his early 80's, just a couple years ago.
I know he was a drill sargeant because we have pictures and also because he carried that aspect of his career/personality with him throughout his life.
He also had a medal with "oak leaf clusters," but I don't know how he earned it. Making contact with someone who worked beside him would help put the story together.
