Biography of Gilbert Hymerling

Training Command, Perry, Florida / Victoria, Texas, U.S.A.A.F.

My Father Gilbert Hymerling served in the Army Air Corps from March 1943 until April 1946. He was in an air training command that trained pilots. He went to school at Semore Johnson, North Carolina, then was transferred to Perry, Florida to work on the P-40's and the P-47's. He said those planes were phased out and he went to Victoria, Texas to work on P-51. He worked on and with the pilots of those planes. They kept changing the Squadron numbers because he was not a pilot but a trainer. Can you help me how to find out more about this period?
