Biography of O. S. McIver
CCCman, Laramie, Wyoming
My Uncle, O.S. McIver was from Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He quit school after 10th grade and signed up for the CCC's to assist his families income. He was 16 at the time, so it must have been somewhere around 1940 (possibly 39 or 41). My aunt who is 82 thinks that he was stationed in Laramie, Wyoming. He was in the CCC's until he enlisted in the USAAF. He was Killed in Action while serving with the Air Corps in WWII.
I would love to know where my uncle went to "training camp" and for sure now where he was stationed while in the CCC's and to know what he did there........like what projects he worked on , etc. Is there anyway to find this information out? Were records kept on this sort of thing?
I remember reading about the CCC's when I was a young girl in school and thought it was a fantastic organization that benefitted the entire country! I am proud to now know that my uncle was in the CCC's as well as the USAAF where he gave his life for our country and our countries freedom.
Any help, information, or input would be greately appreciated!!
