Phy/2nd LST 497, USN

    I was aboard the LST 497 during the Normandy invasion. We brought troops,tanks and equipment during the invasion, and brought back wounded, and prisoners back to England. The initial trip we saw quite a few floating bodies which were mostly Americans. After about 14 months in the European theatre of operation, and after a short leave I shipped out with the 28th CB's during the Okinawa campaign as a pharmast mate.
