JUSTIN MUSEUM OF MILITARY HISTORY
War Crimes of Imperial Japan Exhibit
Welcome to the War Crimes of Imperial Japan, a gathering of Items regarding the atrocities, war crimes, and catastrophies caused by the armed and civilian forces of Imperial Japan during the course of the Second World War. The course of military events which became World War Two first began in Asia when Japan began to expand her influence on the main Asian continent by means of military aggression. At the same time her war mongering factions committed various murders among her more moderate leaders to solidify their control over the government. These violent and arrogant courses of action soon brought death and despair to untold millions and utter devastation to Asia, the Pacific Rim and ultimately Japan herself.
Japanese War Crimes may be the most important subject matter yet unresolved from World War Two. The government of Japan, and indeed its very culture, has never fully accepted its culpability for the war and the crimes it committed. While the former Allied nations buy up Japanese electronics and automobiles many Japanese educational course and texts continue to teach the Japanese children that World War Two was forced upon Japan by the West and that Japan was not to blame. War crimes are taught as accidents or minimized. Though one must hope, one can only wonder if a society which has never accepted the reality of its past could possibly learn the lessons of those mistakes and avoid repeating them in the future. It is the hope of the Curator that a general study of the Items below will allow the visitor to better understand lessons of Japanese Brutalities and that the visitor will in turn do what he can to see that they will not be forgotten and will never be repeated.
