Biography of Louis Leone

Combat Medic, LCM Driver, Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, Southern Philippiness, US Army

My dad's full name was Louis Leone. According to his records he was in the South Pacific from January 1944 to December 1945. He participated in three campaigns. Bismarck Archepelago, New Guinea and Southern Philippines. He was awarded the Combat Medic Badge so I am guessing he was a medic. He only talked about driving a LCM. My aunt said my dad also trained in Florida. The only thing she remembers is him writing to her about his training - that he spent so much time on the water he felt like he was in the Navy instead of the Army. The only name of anyone that was with him that I have was the name of Joe Mahalidge.

Attached below are pictures of my father and my father's unit.

Above, I believe this was taken at Ft. Ord. Going from top to bottom my father is in the third row, going right to left he is the second man next to the Staff Sergeant.

Dad, Louis Leone, with no shirt. Mahalidge is buddy kneeling with him.

I am wondering if anyone can help identify these photos or others in them.

     Thanks.
