Biography of John T. Boyajian

SP 5 , 9th Admin. Co., 9th Infantry Division, US Army, Vietnam

I was a SP 5, 52 B30 Power plant operator and mechanic, in the 9th Administrative Company, 9th Infantry Division. I was on the USNS General Maurice Rose (T-AP-126) on our way to Viet Nam in December of 1966. The Rose arrived at Vung Tau late on December 31, 1966. I have a lot of slides and pictures of my trip to Viet Nam. After all these years I have never looked at the slides.

Here are a few pictures at our base camp - Bear Cat Camp. We were on SHIT detail and the driver of the Duce & Half had a flat tire and he worked for PIO and did not know how to break down a 900 - 20 truck tire so he asked me to break down the tire and patch the tube and put it back together. I put 60 lbs of air in the tire and the lock rim came off and it broke 2 bones in my right foot. I had to work for a month with the cast on.

I liked all the nice guys that I worked with in Viet Nam. I am a rancher and still work today.
