Biography of Silas Pellington
S.S. Mongolia, US Merchant Marine
The Godfather of my mother, Betty Justin (nee McCartney), was Silas Pellington. He joined the merchant marine. I am not sure if he served on any other ships, but I have a photograph of him on the S.S. Mongolia on June 26, 1928 in San Diego. He later fell ill and died at sea, being buried in the Yellow Sea.
