Biography of Richard E. Pianca
LtCol, Cold War & Supply Sergeant, 578th Engineers, 40th Infantry Division, Korea, USAR
My name is Richard E. Pianca, originally from Joliet, Illinois. I retired from the U.S. Army through the Army Reserve program. I was with the 578th Engineers in the 40th Infantry Division. I entered the military in February, 1948 as a member of the 44th Infantry Division, Illinois Army National Guard. Entered active duty in November 1951. I served in 1952 and 1953 in Korea. At the time of my Korean Duty I served in the 578th Engs. as the Battalion Supply Sergeant.
I received my commission in 1956. I was commissioned in the Ordnance Corps. I retired from the US Army Reserve in 1990.
