Biography of Richard E. Pianca

LtCol, Cold War & Supply Sergeant, 578th Engineers, 40th Infantry Division, Korea, USAR

   My name is Richard E. Pianca, originally from Davenport, Iowa. I was with the 578th Engineers in the 40th Infantry Division. I entered the mlitary in February, 1948 as a member of the 44th Infantry Division, Illinois Army National Guard. Entered active duty in Noverember 1951.  I served in 1952 and 1953 in Korea. At the time of my Korean Duty I served in the 578th Engs. as the Battalion Supply Sergeant.

   I received my commision in 1956. I was commisioned in the Ordnance Corps. I retired from the USArmy Reserve in 1990.
