Biography of John C. Culler
Capt, 85th Inf. Div., U.S.A.
I graduated from Clemson with 2nd Lt. commission in US Army in 1941, was stationed at Camp Croft, near Spartanburg, SC, joined 77th Infantry Division at Fort Jackson, SC, was subsequently transferred to Italy with 85th Infantry Division in March 1944, was in combat until wounded on May 22, 1944, sent back to hospital in Naples and returned to front in September 1944, was captured in October 1944 (listed as MIA for 2 months) and spent the rest of the war in German prison camps until liberated by Russians in May 1945.
I have written an autobiography that I have entitled WORLD WAR II AS I SAW IT which I prepared primarily for my grandchildren, but would share the excerpts with you if you care to read it. You may request it by email and I will send it to you by email. There is no charge for the excerpts.
