Biography of Adam Welker
CCCman, Company 1274, Camp F-16, Yellowstone National Park, Jackson, Wyoming
I am the daughter of a former CCC participant, Adam Welker. He began in Fort Dix, NJ was station in Jackson , Wyomming. Company 1274, Camp F-16. He was a Carpenter and also worked on Camp Ground Construction. He was a member in 1939. As a child I remembered seeing my Father's photo album. My Father died 18 years ago but recently my cousin sent me a photo of him in his CCC uniform. The back of it says he was 17 years old in 1934. The photo was developed in Minneapolis, MN. Some of the photos that are in my Father's album are from Yellowstone National Park. Just recently I had diner with a friend and her daughter who is majoring if Forestry and had recently returned from Yellowstone. This started me thinking of my Father and I asked my Mother to take out the old photos. One was very weathered and she told me it was in his wallet when he died. I can't tell you how I felt hearing that he kept that poto of himself and his buddies in his wallet for over forty years. I was wondering if there was any member who remembered him? Also I was also hoping I might find some more info on his place of service and maybe even his picture in one of the archives I know he would have liked that.
