Biography of Leonard Grant Caves
SS Jacob A. Westervelt & S.S. Arcadia Victory & S.S. Valdosta Victory & S.S. Wellesley Victory, USMM, WWII
My father Leonard Grant Caves was in the Merchant marine. He was age 17/18 at the time of his enlistment my dad enlisted about 1944 in San Francisco, California. He took 6 weeks of Basic training at Catalina Islands. The freighter ships my dad served his tour of duty with were the S.S. Westerveld, a liberty ship, the S.S. Arcadia, a Victory shop, and the S.S. Valdosta, and S.S. Wellesley, also Victory ships.
Would like to hear from anyone who served with my father or on those ships.
