Biography of Cecil Dozier Griffin

CCCMan, Company 841, Camp F-1, Pueblo Park, Reserve, New Mexico / Silver City, NM & Company 841, Camp P-24, W-Wapiti, Cody, Wyoming

My father, Cecil Dozier Griffin, was in the CCCs. Cecil Dozier Griffin, lived in St. Jo, Montague Co., TX when he enlisted. He left many photos of his time in the CCCs. Some are of Camp P-24 W-Wapiti Co.841. Cody, Wyoming. There the photos show J. A. Machann, 1st Lieutenant, Field Artillery as the Commanding Officer, at least on July 27, 1934.  Others are camp scenes , snow scenes and groups of men and officers. Some other pictures are stamped with A. Newman Photo, Silver City, NM. I know dad talked about both places so I guess he served in both W.Wapiti and Silver City. Company 841 is the company shown in the Wapiti photos. I am told that Company 841 also served near Reserve, New Mexico, which is near Silver City, in 1933.  It seems likely that he served in Company 841 in New Mexico and then the entire company moved to Wapiti, Wyoming.

The photos show my father on the camp basketball team in New Mexico. The Team's jersey's say Pueblo Park, so presumably this was the project they worked on.
