Biography of Francis D. Jones
Company Commander, New Roads, Louisiana
My father, Francis D. Jones, Jr., a native of Tampa, Florida, was in charge of a CCC camp in New Roads, Louisiana, just upstream of Baton Rouge, on the Mississippi River. Dad graduated from the University of Florida, having been in the military program there while in school. He graduated in 1935 and was in Louisiana sometime between then and Pearl Harbor. (In that time he also served at Fort Sill and Fort Bragg.)
