My dad was in CCC Company #627 Camp Mississippi Palisades, Savanna, Illinois. His name was Russell M. Matthews. He always talked about his days with the cc's. He use to tell me stories about all the rattlesnakes they encountered while working on the park. He was 18 when these pictures were taken. He lived in Shirland, Illinois when he enlisted.

I found a large picture of the CCC Company #627 Camp Mississippi Palisades, Savanna, Illinois. It is dated August 15th l933. The picture is 8"x 32". My dad, who is now deceased, is in the picture. My dad is the fourth guy from the cooks in the first row. All the men are in uniform.

I also have a picture of him in uniform next to the tent they stayed in. The other picture is him at the camp. The picture is dated 8/15/33 company 627 at Mississippi Palisades. I also have his honorable discharge paper. I hope you can make out the pictures. I’ve done the best I can with them. He was 18 when these pictures were taken. Thanks for the interest. I know my dad, who died in l996 would love to know you got to look at these pictures.
