Biography of Roy Shockley (Dutch Shockley)
CCCMan, Company 692, Giant City State Park, Makanda, Illinois
Engineer Corps, SWPac, USA
My brother-in-law, Roy (Dutch) Shockley of Rosiclare, Illinois, was in the CCC's in 1941. He was at Company 692, Giant City State Park at Makanda, Illinois. His reason for joining was the same as mine - no employment around Southern Illinois. He, too, left the camp to await induction into the army. While in the Army, he was attached to the Engineer Corps in the South Pacific for three years. He is now deceased.
