Biography of Joseph Anthony Traina

My father, Joseph Anthony Traina, born in New York on March 10,1918 to Francesco Traina and Francesca Di Salvo Traina, both immigrants from Sicily. He entered the USCC on October 5, 1937, at the age of 19 at Camp Dix and was sent to Prineville, Oregon into Company # 263 Camp # F 112 until April 7, 1938, under Capt. James M. Battles, his commanding officer, as an A. L. Sp. The camp he was in was Camp Mill Creek. He returned to New York where he met and married my mother Rosina, on September 14, 1940. He became a designing engineer, working in air conditioning and refrigeration at both American Can Co. and IBM. He died on November 7, 1969, at the age of 51.
