First Lieut. Kenneth W.
First Lieutenant Kenneth W. Mosher, Air Res., Adjutant,
Sparta CCC District Headquarters, was born in Troy Grove, Illinois, August
24, 1906. His father was a physician and they lived in various
small towns in Northern
Illinois during his boyhood.
Lieutenant Mosher was graduated from Sandwich Township High
June 1924. He attended the University of Illinois and was graduated in June 1929. From there, he received an appointment
as flying cadet to attend U.S. Army School, reporting for duty at March Field, Riverside, California, June
29, 1929. From there he was sent to Kelly Field, Texas, where
he was graded in June, 1930.
After an eighteen months’ tour of duty with the regular
army air corps, he left the service and worked on the sky ride at the 1933
Chicago Fair. Ordered to active duty with the CCC January 4, 1934,
he reported to Fort Sheridan and went from there to Camp Smith Lake, Hayward, Wisconsin. The following April he took command of Company 1602nd
CCC, Camp Petenwell, Necedah, Wisconsin. He was transferred to District Headquarters at Sparta April 6,
1935, and appointed Assistant Adjutant. On June 10, 1935, he was made
Adjutant and has been serving in that capacity since.
