Biography of Charles Griffin
Leader, Camp Rand, Galice, Oregon & Diamond Lake, Oregon, Siskiyou National Forest
I learned to be a bull dozer operator under Sparky's supervision at Camp Rand, Galice, OR & at Diamond Lake, OR. I enjoyed working with him very much.
We built a lot of roads at both places. I was a Leader also in charge of C Barracks at Camp Rand. At times I can remember the name of the banjo playing Ranger at Rand Ranger Station.
Even though I was from Texas, the majority of the enrollees at that time were from Mississippi & Alabama. I was discharged there at Camp Rand & worked for the Forest Service for about a year.
If any of Sparky's family or anyone else is interested, I would sure like to e-mail with them.
